This Is A Journal by Eric Shay Howard

Eric Shay Howard is the editor of Likely Red. He’s currently finishing up his BA in English at the University of Louisville. He graduates in May 2017.

We are folks who laugh at memes and jokesters who create them.

We are wordsmiths who read amazing words and then pretend that we can do it, too.

We are observers who watch birds with just as much intrigue when they land as when they take off, reminding ourselves that they have wings because sometimes we forget.

We are painters that use almost anything for a canvas at least once.

We are educated over-thinkers who got our degrees in something and then got as far away from campus as we could, even if it was just for a little while.

We are farmers whose favorite foods change when the wind blows new and exciting ways, filling our noses with smells that we say are actually acquired tastes.

Some of us don’t know what art is, but we all believe in it anyway.

We’re not completely sure what we’re doing, but we think this is a literary journal.
