A Man Needs A Mead by Colin James

Colin James is the author of the poetry chapbook, Dreams of the Really Annoying, which can be found over at White Knights Press.

Once when seeking closure
I consulted Brother Jerome a Bee expert
who proceeded to laugh at me
through his protective glasses.
There can be no doubt,
the sun was shining on his face.
I can almost still see that retina.
Later he tried to assault me
in his sleep. It was like
making love to a blind person.
"That is not the four o'clock from Brighton!"
Lest we forget the threatened
interdict by the Bishop of Brighton
& the production of their famous mead.
Brother Jerome's antics in the town centre
after a night on the mead were the final straw.
One of his sandals is still missing.
